Self-care. How to balance your life

From Roses Stock Shop

I believe, one of the most important things in life is self-care.  The way you treat yourself is the way you treat others.

You need to pamper yourself from time to time. For me Sunday is (at home) spa day. I have a relaxing bath, listen to music, wash my hair and do my nails. It’s the time I switch my phone off / on airplane modus and enjoy some peaceful me-time. After that, I always feel calm and ready for the new week. Sonn I’ll share with you, my Sunday- Spa- Routine. Let me know in the comments down below what you enjoy the most while at-home-spa-time.

 Work out

I try to hit the gym every morning. It turned into a habit and when I skip a day I feel like something is missing. Even though I ‘hate’ being at the gym and working out but I love the feeling afterward. I feel fit and full of power. My favorite things to do at the gym are Yoga (for sure), running and some weights (and by that, I mean tiny mini weights. haha. I have the strength of a baby rabbit. But I’m working on it).

self-care How I balance my life.

The day I decided to follow a vegan diet was the day I decided to take better care of myself.
I don’t quit animal products because of the animals (even though it’s a good reason, maybe the best and most popular), I quit animal products mainly because I wanted to be aware of
what I eat and what I need to live a healthy life. I knew it was possible to live out of plants just because I used to follow such a diet when I was young (read more about my journey  here )

Things to tell yourself daily
  • You are beautiful the way you are
  • Be grateful for everything you have
  • Work for what you want
  • Be the best you can be
  • Do not compare yourself to others
  • You are worth it!And a personal favorite

It’s ok that your dream job isn’t what brings in your income

Love the idea of “Spa Sundays!” Sundays are currently my day to refrain from work, but sometimes I unintentionally use that down time to allow myself to become stressed by other things. I will definitely be trying this next week!

Thanks Katelynn, I highly recommend adopting some spa/me time at some day in the week. For me Sunday’s work really well. It’s the day I try to relax and don’t stress about work. I still write my to-do list for the new week but a nice bath, at home facial or just a few minutes meditation are so helpful.
Let me know how it worked for you. Much love, Ilka xx

Such a great post, girl! Best advice to give someone is to not compare yourself with others! 🙂

    XOXO Kathryn

Something I like to do (which is potentially not all that healthy) is just to go sit and have a coffee some place nice. A bit of quiet reflection with a cup of strong coffee does me the world of good.

If it’s good for your soul, it’s ‘healthy’!
I love to do this sometimes too. It’s so calming when you enjoy a drink (coffee, tea, or something else) and just let your mind flow.
      Much love x
