How to Stay in Tune with Your Wellness Needs This Spring

spring wellness guide Spring is the time of fresh air and the scent of tulips and daffodils. It’s the time of rebirth and bloom, and it’s the season where we finally get to reconnect not only with nature but with our own bodies. Our wellbeing comes first right now, especially after an entire winter of dull cold and constant discomfort. Do you want to step into spring fresh, happy and radiant? Then you’ll need to take a few steps to make sure your body has all that it needs.

Time for a new morning beverage

Your morning cup of joe might be your favorite thing in the world, and we’re not suggesting that you skip it. However, right before it, why not enjoy a glass of cool, fresh lemon water? It will wake up your metabolism and make you feel better, and you can easily down it before coffee. Make a fresh glass each morning, or if you’re busy simply make it in advance and pull it out of your fridge when you need it.

I already gathered my top 10 tips for how to start your day- read them here

Adjust your eating habits

While winter called for heavy, spicy food, now’s the perfect time to let our gut rest a bit and start eating healthy again. That sluggish, sleepy feeling in our head is very much influenced by what we eat, so why not turn to more veggies, fruit, oatmeal, lean meats, and other foods that impact mind-body wellbeing?
Spring should be spent detoxing and eating clean in preparation for summer, especially because you don’t want to realize that your vacation is a month away and you’ve still got extra pounds that you want to shed before you slip into that bathing suit.

Update your skincare

Time to get your glow on! This year’s runway trends tell us that natural, no-foundation look is very much in, but to achieve that you’ve got to make sure your skin is clear, lush, and radiant. If you have any acne or scaring, we suggest that you turn to our Aussie sisters for a good tip – use Australian red clay.
The ladies there make masks by simply mixing the clay with some water and a little Greek yogurt to keep it smooth and keep it on their face for about twenty minutes. Do this twice a week and your skin will be completely revitalized and brightened. Another good product to try? Beauty concentrates, but especially this Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate that will deliver a ton of cool active ingredients and make your skin soft as velvet.

Visit your doctor

Skipping your doctor’s appointments is not only irresponsible, but it tends to come back to bite you in the bum when you least expect it. We suggest that you see your OB/GYN, your GP, but most of all, your eye doctor – we bet you haven’t seen them in ages. To turn back to Aussies, their studies show that about 75% of vision problems are preventable or treatable, so Australians take their eye health seriously. Visits to the optometrist in Broadway are a common practice, and there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t take their example and see your own doctor annually. Keep that eagle vision sharp, people!

Grab your old bike

We can finally start enjoying outdoor workouts with ease again, and there’s nothing like reconnecting with nature and going on a bike ride and maybe a picnic to make you feel calm and healthy. You could also start running, do yoga outside, or simply taking long walks. And the best thing about this? You can totally use it to hang out with your besties – make it a Sunday tradition to grab your bikes and cycle to interesting places. Getting your regular physical activity doesn’t have to be boring at all!

Let yourself get creative

Everything around you is waking up from the winter stupor, so why not use the opportunity to nurture that creativity of yours? Write, read books, paint, sew, knit, make something with your hands. Gather flowers and press them to make beautiful greeting cards or bookmarks later on, just make things and enjoy the creative process.
Visit old friends
You keep promising you’ll get together, and now’s the time to fulfill that promise. Reconnect with old and dear friends, and re-evaluate all your relationships. Show the people who’ve been good to you how much you appreciate it, and let toxic people go from your life.

Self-care is essential! Spring lets you focus on yourself, so use that opportunity for personal growth and happiness. Enjoy the process!
