5 Habits for a happier life

Tips for a happier lifeThese are simple tips on how to improve a happier life. As my goal for the year to be more positive, it feels also essential that I share my top five tips to live a happier life. Theses are habits everybody knows but sometimes forgets. So I collected them and share all in one post for you to remember and to be the best version of yourself.

  1. Give up on comparing

Don’t compare yourself to others. You are you and that is amazing! The only person you should compare to is yourself (from the past). By that I mean, are you closer to your goals and dreams today as you were yesterday? I already wrote a post about comparison. Read it here

  2. Stop doing thing you don’t want to do

This is your life! And when you don’t want to do certain things, you don’t have to! At least not on a day to day basis (sometimes we have to do things in our job or school we don’t want to do, but that’s how we grow. And if you really don’t want to, because it’s against everything you stand for, change your course or find a new job. You don’t have to do things you don’t want to).

  3. Exercise to boost your energy

Sport is a great way to get out of the house, interact with people, get in shape, clear your mind and increase your power. After a sudatory workout, you feel so much better about yourself. And you don’t have to go to the gym, you can workout at home or outside.

  4. Spend more time in nature

As mentioned in No. 3 you can locate your workout outside. Go for a run, ride the bike or stretch in the park.
If you’re not that sporty, simple go for a walk or tan in the garden (when it’s summer). My favorite thing is walking to appointments that aren’t that far away. I love to stroll through the city, maybe stop for a coffee or window shop a little.

  5. Keep track of your goals

Everybody has goals! Some are small some are bigger. But when you don’t keep track of them you can lose passion and motivation fulfilling them or just never reach them because you have no idea how to satisfy them. I like to write lists with steps on how I can reach my goal (Overall goal, intermediate steps, a timeline and what I need to do to reach them) it’s really simple when you find a system.

* Today’s post is on the shorter side. As I’m currently stressed out by work and have a few big events ahead I’ll tell you about soon. Much love, Ilka x

Thank you for this. I have the hardest time with the first one. I am always comparing.

Thank’s for stopping by, Holly. I totally agree, I also compare myself (my achievements) with what other people do, but it just makes me ‘sad’ and doesn’t help me to reach my goals.
      Much love xx

Number 4 has been a huge help for me lately.

It’s a great way to connect with yourself. I love taking a walk and just enjoy my own company (or just enjoy nature with my boyf.)
      Much love xx

Number 1, number 1, number 1! The internet and social media has definitely made this a slight problem for me. I’m working on the though.

That’s fantastic! 🙂 We all need to cheer us up a little more and help each other… don’t be mad over somebody else’s achievements.
      Thank’s for stopping by xxx

Good tips! I think letting go of comparing is probably the hardest one to do – but also a great thing to work on doing!

Yes. It’s something most people struggle with and it’s so hard to give up on.
      Thank’s for stoping by xxx

Great post! I agree…”stop doing things you don’t want to do”! I always say the best two letter word in the dictionary is “no”. Some of us would eliminate more stress if we would do that one thing. Thanks so much for sharing! Stopping by from “Growing Social Media for Bloggers”. Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Thank you so much for stopping by, Michell. Welcome to the IEB blog 🙂 I hope you enjoy it. xx
I totally agree with you. I say yes so often and totally stress out because I have no time left for things I actually enjoy 🙁 xx

Isn’t it funny how sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to make happen? I hadn’t exercised in a few weeks and finally got out for the last few days. I’ve slept better at night, had more energy during the day and feel like the load I’m carrying is a little more bearable. Some really great reminders!

Absolutely! I can’t function right when I spend all my time inside, need to go out at least once a day! But it’s really cold and rainy most days in Germany, that’s what’s stoping me sometimes xxx

These are simple tips that make a world of difference! I always have to reevaluate what I’m doing and make sure I’m on the path to achieving the goals I set. I also try not to spend my time on things I know I’ll either regret or simply don’t want to do.

      18. April 2017 / 05:51

That’s a great way to go!! It can be really hard sometimes. I say YES so often even if I don’t want to do it and afterwards I’m stressed out or just unhappy.
      Much love

Lots of awesome suggestions here! I need to work on most of these. I find myself doing the old comparison game all the time.

      18. April 2017 / 05:50

That’s the thing with comparison, we all do it (at least from time to time) but it doesn’t help.
I’m glad you enjoy the post xxx
