Guide to survive a cold

Catching a cold (

With autumn being in full swing. All the leaves have changed, it’s all wet and gray outside and freezing cold, of course. So the perfect time for me to come down with a cold.

As I’m slowly getting over a bad cold, I’d like to share with you, my favorite things to prevent a cold or handle a flue.

Warm cloth Catching a cold (

It isn’t called sweater weather without any reason.  And for me, as I’m constantly freezing, warm cloth is a must! Always! As far as the temperature drops 20°C  I’m in my sweaters, preparing a hot water bottle and getting my UGG’s out of storage. There is nothing worse than to be cold.

Hot drinks

I’m a sucker for tea. And I don’t care if it’s hot or cold outside. Tea is a must, morning and evening. Especially green teas. But within the colder month’s, I like to switch to something richer, like black teas.  In Autumn I particularly enjoy a hot pumpkin spiced Chai Latte (mine is vegan).

Comfort food

Everything warm, cozy, sweet or just filling. While Autumn / Winter my body needs more food to get all it’s ‘work’ done plus sweets are all around and I just can’t resist and spoil myself more likely to cake and biscuits. It always reminds me of home and my childhood. My Mama used to cook the best dishes while winter. They kept me warm and full of energy for all the fun I had outside.
My favorite A/W comfort foods are:

  • fresh veggie soup
  • casserole
  • mash potatoes
  • everything pumpkin
  • apple pie, cinnamon rolls, red wine cake (if you like, I can share the recipe with you)

I love this! Warm drinks and soup are my go-to when I have a cold. Usually ginger turmeric tea and lipton noodle soup!

Oh, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. Hope you’ll get better soon.
My HOT PUMPKIN SPICED CAI TEA is so yummy.
In short, I mix a tablespoon pumpkin puree and milk (almond milk) until its foamy and add it to the fresh brewed tea.
Let me know how you like it when you try.
Much love and get well soon. Ilka x
