My Christmas Movie List.
The day after Halloween I get as excited as Buddy the Elf. I know, it only is the second day of November. But for me, waiting for Christmas is just as much fun as Christmas. So from now on till Christmas, I’ll throw in some Xmas related posts.
My favorite Christmas Movie
First of all, let me tell you, it is really hard to pick a favorite Christmas movie! There are so many different types of Christmas films. The ones who really set the mood and cheer you up for Christmas, like ELF. Goofy films like Deck the Halls or Jingle all the Way. More serious movies who broach the issue of the true meaning of Christmas as Scrooged. Love movies such as The Holiday and Love Actually. And the films who remind you of your childhood, for example, Home Alone, The Grinch, and Mickey’s Christmas Carol. To name just a few of them.
But my favorite Christmas film is Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (Three gifts for Cinderella [UK titel] ). It is a Czechoslovak/East German fairy-tale film from 1973. Because Three gifts for Cinderella is a cult film in Germany, I watched it every year of y life. It is a part of my families Christmas tradition. First, when the family arrives we all have coffee and cake. Afterward, we go for a long walk or sometimes tabogganing. Then it’s time for dinner. After dinner presents. And late at night, around 11 pm. we all watch Three gifts for Cinderella. So this year is the 25th time I’ll watch the movie and I can’t wait for it!
What is your favorite Christmas Movie?
I’d love to introduce some ‘new’ ones to my Christmas Movie list.
Much love and merry pre-Christmas, Ilka x
